Sığırkuyruğu (verbascum) : Sıracagiller familyasından; yüksek boylu, bir veya iki yıllık otsu bir bitkidir. Yurdumuzda 200 kadar türü vardır. Sık tüylüdür. Yaprakları tabanında toplanmıştır. Çiçekleri çok çabuk dökülür. Sarı veya kırmızımsı renktedirler. Büyüksığırkuyruğu denilen türünün içeriğinde; şeker, sabit ve uçucu yağ, müsilaj, reçine, saponin ve renkli maddeler vardır.

Faydası : Göğsü yumuşatır. Balgam söktürür. Bronşitte faydalıdır.
